Pandemic holidays: rules for entry to Cyprus in 2021

Cyprus opened its borders to Russian tourists on 1 April 2021.

Tourists are allowed to leave the hotel twice a day for three hours.Cyprus is one of the most popular holiday destinations for Russian tourists. The mild Mediterranean climate, rich history, a wide range of entertainment for both relaxing and active holiday. There are many options for accommodation, dining and travel, so you can plan a trip on a different budget.

How to fly

Cyprus opened its borders to Russian tourists on 1st April 2021. At the moment there is no direct flight connection between Russia and the republic; all scheduled flights have the status of cargo-passenger flights, i.e. they are operated under one-time permits. Currently, six Russian airlines have direct flights to Cyprus from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Rostov-on-Don and Samara.
Visa

Russian citizens can apply for a pro-visa. The pro-visa is issued online. You have to fill in an application form on the website, after you send the application, you must receive a confirmation on your e-mail. Within 5 working days you will receive the result of the application and further instructions. Visas must be submitted in hardcopy at the passport control.

PCR test

All tourists travelling to Cyprus are required to have a negative PCR test done no less than 72 hours prior to departure. The certificate must be in English and presented at boarding and security.

Upon arrival in Cyprus all tourists are required to take a PCR test again at their own expense. The cost of testing at Larnaca airport is €30 and at Paphos airport €32. Within three hours of taking the test the tourists will receive a text message with the result. They must remain self-excluded until they receive the results.

The tests do not need to be taken by children under the age of 12.

Travelers who test positive will be transferred to a special institution, all accommodation and treatment costs will be covered by the Cypriot state. Persons who have been in close contact with those infected will be placed in special rooms in quarantine hotels.

Health declaration

To enter the country a Cyprus Flight Pass form needs to be completed and presented on boarding. Without this document the passenger will not be allowed on the flight.

Insurance

No health insurance is required for travellers entering the country.
Masks should be worn in public places, except at eating places, beaches, swimming pools and sports grounds. From 23:00 to 05:00 there is a curfew on the territory of the country and all movement of citizens and tourists is prohibited. During the rest of the time, tourists are allowed to leave the hotel twice a day on weekdays and three times on weekends for no more than three hours. Before leaving the hotel, a text message must be sent to 8998 to obtain permission.
